Dear Family Members,

I am writing this as a follow up to inform you as to how your loved ones are doing, as well as to let you know all of the steps our staff has taken in the face of COVID-19. First and foremost, since excluding visitors (effective last Friday, March 13 at 5:00 p.m.), as well as all non-essential vendors and suppliers, we have met with your loved ones on two occasions to inform them of the important issues and steps that we are taking to protect them, as well as the things they can do to protect themselves.

  • Discussed suspension of visitation by family members and non-essential personnel.

  • Explained all of the things we are doing regarding food supplies during this crisis. (See below)

  • Purchased additional iPads to communicate with loved ones via Skype & FaceTime.

  • Informed residents that they can contact the Concierge to provide a list of purchases they may require.

  • Set up a system so that you may drop off personal items at the front door. There are two boxes that you can place the items into and our staff will retrieve it and deliver items to your loved one.

  • Providing new and additional activities through the recommendation of our staff, such as movies and cooking demonstrations.

  • We have started spring cleaning earlier. Porches have been power washed and furniture cleaned so that residents may enjoy the outside.

The following items were purchased over and above standard emergency supplies:

  • Food: We have on hand more than a two-week supply. As you know with the closure of restaurants and bars, excluding takeout, US Foods and Sysco will have an abundance of food according to our representative. We have also taken steps to have a backup supplier, should the need arise.

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): In anticipation of COVID-19 reaching the United States, we were able to buy additional PPE to have on hand for this event. However, we still are reaching out to our sources in order to bolster our stock even further.

All other departments have increased supplies and are continuing to keep increases steady in accordance with suppliers’ releases.

As we all know, the most important thing being stressed in the news is personal hygiene, constant washing of one's hands, using sanitizer, and not touching your face. We stress this at all of our meetings and have initiated handwashing announcements three times per shift for residents and staff. We discussed the need for safe distancing up to 6 feet, as well as the need for having safe distancing during communal dining and group activities. We assured your loved ones that all of us working here have their total interests at heart. Our staff has been in-serviced in all areas of infection control and prevention as well as the latest recommendations from the Centers for Disease & Preventions (CDC) and Department of Health (DOH).

We know that this is a difficult time for all of you and we promise to keep you and your loved ones informed, engaged, and as happy as can be. We are sensitive to your loved ones’ overall wellbeing and want to make sure that the situation we are confronted with does not cause a decline physically or mentally. So far, through my interactions with the residents as well as reports from my staff, they seem to be in very good spirits. Please take the time to reach out to them on a regular basis, whether it is by phone, FaceTime, Skype, or mail.

Should you have any questions or concerns at any time, our two main contacts for you will be: Wendy Becker, Community Relations Director and Kimberly Hoffman, Administrative Assistant.

In closing, I just want to thank you for giving us the opportunity to take care of your loved ones on a daily basis, but most importantly during this most challenging time.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Dear Family and Community Members,

I am sorry to convey these messages and actions; however, in order to protect the members of our Adult Day Care, as well as the residents and patients of Seacrest Village, we have decided to follow the local school district's lead in temporarily closing our Adult Day Program.

Please be advised, that we currently have no cases of COVID-19 in our Adult Day Program or in our Long Term Care and Subacute Communities. By taking these measures, we hope to keep it that way.

Over the past week, we have seen a dramatic drop in attendance due to the threat of the COVID-19 possibly infecting our members, as well as other medical reasons. We recognize this is for almost everyone a major sacrifice and we are prepared to, and are preparing ourselves to, help in every way we can. We trust that this will not cause any hardship; however, in being proactive, we feel this is the best decision to make.

As always, should you have any questions, please reach out to Stacy Ziemba, Program Director, Carol Zembruski, Assistant Program Director, or Susan Foley, Administrator.

Thank you in advance for your understanding in this matter.

Sincerely,

Dear Family Members,

I would like to give you an update on our thinking and planning around the COVID-19 epidemic. We are, as we're sure you are, monitoring the local and global situation carefully. We are taking advice from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and instruction from the New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH).

Therefore, per their recommendation, effective Friday, March 13, 2020, we will be suspending in-person visitation to our Assisted Living, except in special circumstances, such as end-of-life situations. Other exceptions will be as follows: Healthcare professionals, vendors, and other emergency suppliers.

While there are no COVID-19 cases at our communities at this time, this restriction is to help protect the health of our facility residents. It is important to take proactive measure in order to protect a population who is particularly vulnerable to severe disease and complications from COVID-19.

Should you need to inquire about a bill or other matters with the Business Office, please be advised that the Business Office will also be following the same guidelines for visitation as mentioned above. We ask that you call or e-mail with any questions.

Please remember that updates will be available on our website, as well as our Facebook page, and should the need arise we will continue to e-mail you with any further information.

Should you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact us. Thank you for you attention and understand regarding this matter.

Sincerely,
